What Do We Need To Conquer Fear?

Yes, you sang it right. And just like what the song said, the sun is coming up, meaning there is still hope for us to rise again. Rise again from what? From your stressors, problems, challenges, fears, and other negative things that bring you down. But as we all know, most of these negative things that bring us down are caused by fear. Yes, fear alone. But what really is fear? And what do we need to conquer our fears?

Fear is a powerful emotion that can affect everything in our lives once it is triggered. Being powerful does not mean it is something that will negatively affect us all the time. Fear actually exists to remind us that there is an emergency or discomfort that is about to happen, which means fear actually appears in our daily life to help and guide us. 

But sometimes, we tend to misunderstand our fears and transform them into something negative. When this happens, it becomes hard for us to continue our lives because, instead of having fear as just a warning sign, it becomes the main reason for our dysfunctional and unhealthy actions.

How can we conquer fear then? With hope. Hope then comes to the rescue, like how the sun saves us from darkness. Hope is a positive state of mind that is based on one’s personal expectation of good outcomes from different events or circumstances. Hope is a state of mind that persuades us to believe that what we desire will come to pass and our fear will come to pass. 

Having hope overpowers our fears. When it comes to the point where fears become smaller and smaller until they become irrelevant already, Hope manifests from being positive and looking forward to what comes next after the fear. What good things happen after fear? Even if you resonate the fear as something negative, the positive and good outlook of hope will overpower all the negatives.

Fear is really a struggle to process, and hope is not easy to bring out of us. But once we’ve managed to process all of these, everything can come easily, just like how fast we don’t notice our sun comes out after dark.
