Your Fear Response is “Fight”

A high score in this response suggests that you want to gain control over the fear because you identify it as a threat to your safety.

Definition of the

Fight Response

If you possess a “fight” response, you want to feel safe and in control of the situation.

You might feel the need to defend yourself by using aggressive postures. These postures can include being passive-aggressive, yelling, and always being right.

When you have this kind of reaction, you normally want to get rid of the threat before it gets rid of you.

Coping Mechanism:

Dance It Out!!!

Having a fight response is all about releasing the tension. For you to be able to avoid reacting abruptly, you need to practice releasing the emotions and tension in other ways. And what’s a more fun way of releasing your emotions and tension than by dancing it out!

Dancing helps with emotional expression. It is through movement that you can express yourself. The people dancing are able to deal with difficult feelings and release them through the steps of their dance. Whatever you are unable or unwilling to express verbally, you can do so through dance. It does not actually need to be a perfect dance; you can just simply move around in any way that you feel comfortable.

If you can express your emotions during the flow of dance, you are already being mindful of your feelings. Being able to recognize these emotions is one way to avoid succumbing to a fight response.

That’s why we encourage you to watch this Guided Dance Meditation and dance out your emotions! Also, take a short video of yourself doing your favorite part of this dance and post it on your social media to encourage others to try it out too. Don’t forget to tag us too!
