Start Your New Year by Focusing on Your 4Ps (Peace, Passion, Purpose, and Pleasure)

Jan 16, 2023 | Self

“Year 2022 is going to be all about hustle and grind! I’m going to get those six-figure earnings.”

This was David’s mantra last year. In doing so, he brought his affirmations to life, but at the expense of his own mental health.

David was so focused on making money that he had forgotten how to enjoy a relaxing weekend free of work obligations. He has also lost his passion for reading books because he just doesn’t have the time to do it. The happiness he feels whenever he plays video games is already gone because his mind is always worrying about his work. And the saddest part is that he has already forgotten his true purpose in life.

Basically, he just lost a year of his life. He forgot to choose himself and became preoccupied with the material things of life.

Just like David, it is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and forget what is truly worthwhile. You are constantly bombarded with distractions, and it can be difficult to find time to focus on your own peace, pleasure, purpose, and passion. However, it is essential to your wellbeing that you make time for these things. In this article, we will be looking at how significant the 4 Ps are in your life. At the same time, we will also be looking at how you can know which of them is missing from your life.

New Year New Me

Peace

Being at peace with yourself makes you more present and focused. You are not as easily distracted or pulled away from what is important. You can better handle stress and difficult situations. You are also more likely to be kind and compassionate toward others.

There are many ways to find peace within yourself. Meditation, mindfulness, and yoga are all helpful practices for calming the mind and body. Spend time in nature, surrounded by the beauty and peace of the outdoors. Listen to calming music or read inspiring books such as Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life. In fact, just breathing through the 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Exercise will bring you peace. You should do whatever brings you a sense of peace and tranquility.

Pleasure

Pleasure is another important aspect of your wellbeing. When you are passionate about the things you do, you’re more likely to stick in doing them. Additionally, you will improve every moment of your life by appreciating even the simplest things.

You can find pleasure in many ways, such as by doing things that make you happy, finding a hobby or activity that brings you joy. You could, for example, do some simple coloring with our Anxiety Reducing Coloring Book.

Purpose

When you have a sense of purpose, you are more likely to be motivated and driven. You are more likely to pursue your goals and your dreams.

To find your purpose, you can start by using our Finding Purpose Within Each Day Journal. Then do what makes you feel purposeful and fulfilled; and live your life in alignment with your values and beliefs.

Passion

If you’re passionate about something, you’ll put your heart and soul into it. Some of the ways to find passion in life are by doing things that make you feel happy and have a positive impact on others. Spend time with people who inspire you and make you feel positive. Do things that bring you a sense of passion and fulfillment.

Remember, it’s a new year, which means it’s time for new beginnings. This year, don’t be like David. Focus on your peace, passion, pleasure, and purpose. By doing so, find out first which of these 4Ps is missing in your life by taking our 4Ps Quiz. Once you know what is missing in your life, you can now start to create a life that is more fulfilling and satisfying.
