“How can I avoid Thanksgiving?” “I hate it. Can you help me?”
“My fear is that I will ruin our Thanksgiving.”
“The only thing my family will do on Thanksgiving is fight.”
These are some of the things my clients say when Thanksgiving approaches. Thanksgiving is something most of them want to avoid because of the past experiences they have had. Their lack of insight into the essence of this holiday caused them to miss out on something good it had to offer.
The holiday of Thanksgiving is a time to gather together and give thanks for all that has been good in our lives. Even though some may find this holiday season challenging, most look forward to spending time with loved ones and enjoying delicious food. But the true pleasure of Thanksgiving does not end there.
What is the Pleasure of Thanksgiving?
For many, the pleasure of Thanksgiving is simply in the traditions. From watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with your favorite Thanksgiving shirt to gathering around the table for a feast, these traditions bring us joy and make us feel connected to something larger than ourselves.
But the true pleasure of Thanksgiving is found in the act of giving thanks itself. In a world that can be so full of negativity, taking a moment to appreciate all the good in our lives is a true act of pleasure. And when we share this positive attitude with others, the pleasure is multiplied.
How to Experience the Pleasure of Thanksgiving?
To truly enjoy the true pleasure of Thanksgiving, here are a few things you can do to enjoy the holiday to its fullest.
1. Take a deep breath and relax.
Remember that the holiday is about giving thanks, not perfection. There is no need to try to do everything perfectly. Just do your best and enjoy the time with your loved ones.
2. Focus on the things that you are thankful for.
Make a list of all the things in your life that you are grateful for. This can help you remember what the holiday is really about.
3. Take some time for yourself.
Thanksgiving can be a busy time, but it is important to take some time to relax and rejuvenate. Take a long bath with your bath bombs, read your favorite book, Verity by Colleen Hoover, or take a walk in nature. Whatever you do, make sure to take some time for yourself.
By following these tips, you can experience the pleasure of Thanksgiving. Remember also that no matter what brings you pleasure on Thanksgiving, one thing is for sure: it is a day to be grateful for all the good in our lives. From the traditions we hold dear to the simple act of giving thanks, Thanksgiving is a day to enjoy the company of those we love and to reflect on all the things we are thankful for.
